The most famous graduate of the CHS Orchestra Program, Boyd Tinsley (’82) of the Dave Matthews Band, has made a generous donation to the Charlottesville City Schools. Mr. Tinsley's gift is to foster music, tennis, and academic tutoring, particularly for economically disadvantaged students. Scholarships for private music lessons are provided to members of the Walker, Buford, and CHS Orchestras who would otherwise be unable to afford them.

We are very grateful to Mr. Tinsley for his community spirit and generosity, which helps so many students realize their full musical potential.
