String Auditions:

Etude/Excerpt Rotation #4 for 2008 (40%)
Sightreading (40%)
Scales (20%) shall be performed in the following format:

• All scales are to be performed from memory.

• Range: 3 octaves for violin, viola, cello
(Violin: G, A, Bb, B and C Major; G, A, B, and C melodic minor)
(Viola and cello: C, D, Eb, E, and F Major; C, D, E, and F melodic minor)

2 full octave scales for bass (E, F, G, A Major and melodic minor)

• The quarter note to be played at MM=120.

• All scales will be performed in the following bowing pattern:
2 notes slurred, 2 notes martele on the ascending scale;
4 notes slurred on the descending scale.

Sightreading

Students MUST be accompanied by their director
or a principal-designated substitute to audition.
Students, please work with your directors to ensure you have complete audition information! Information regarding auditions will be e-mailed to orchestra and band directors in our region.
